1:1 Personal Development Coaching

Sometimes in life, the time is right to follow a new path. And sometimes, life is pushing us to make a change, and our natural inclination is to resist it. It can be hard to know where to start on our own…Why? Because as individuals, we are never able to see all our own possibilities.

You can be face to face with opportunity, but if you’re not mentally, emotionally and physically ready, it’s hard to even see your own possibilities, let alone take advantage of them.

Just as sporting professional uses a sports coach to motivate, encourage and support their quest to achieve outstanding results in their chosen field, so does a Personal Development Coach empower you to take control of your life and work with you to achieve your future goals and aspirations.

Personal Development Coaching isn’t therapy or counselling nor does it look to the past for guidance. A good coach will not offer advice or make judgments about you.

Personal Development Coaching helps you focus on whether you are living the life you want and, if not, how to make changes in small manageable steps to reach the outcomes you desire.

Bert worked with me to design and tailor a curriculum geared to meet the specific needs of my organization and the individuals on the leadership team. He is a consummate professional and trainer who delivers the curriculum through a variety of mediums (i.e., video, reading materials, role playing, etc.) to reach the different style of learners. Bert has presented various modules ranging from attention management, creative conflict, and the drama triangle to the leadership team via in person sessions and teleclasses. He administered the MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator) and presented each of the leadership team with their individual assessments. The results of this exercise are invaluable in helping a young leadership team understand how to work with one another and appreciate the different leadership styles that each of them bring to the team. All the materials he has provided present an opportunity for my team to grow and learn about their leadership styles. While the learning process may sometimes be less than comfortable, Bert encourages each of the members to embark on the personal journey of introspection thus helping them grow as individuals and leaders.

We continue to work with Bert and each session brings new opportunities for each of the members of the leadership team to move forward in their evolution as a leader.

For the years that Bert has served as faculty in our Notre Dame Integral Executive Education MBA program, he has offered powerful learning regarding the complexity of challenges that accompany real change. His areas of expertise involve his understanding of the hidden dimensions of the growth and development process, and how to bring communication skills, conflict management and taking broader perspectives to bear on otherwise intractable problems. Bert is congenial and well liked by the students and faculty, and his presence as a facilitator is complemented by the depth of his understanding of the nuances and sophistication of the Integral model. He is indeed a world-class expert in these regards, and our program has been fortunate to continue to learn from his many gifts.

Now for something totally embarassing to Bert—a client testimonial! I met Bert Halloween, 2002 at SDi training with Don in Boulder. It was the first time I had ever met another integral person, and there was an entire room full of them. I didn’t sleep for 7 straight days during the seminar. I was too excited to eat, sleep, or speak rationally, and Bert suggested that he coach me, about which we in NJ knew very little.

I’m not going to go into the particulars, but I received more from Bert, his integral coaching, and from his oh-so-special persona than anything except my daughter. I owe him these past 3 1/2 years which have been the happiest of my life.

I love you dearly, Bert!

Lynne D. Feldman, Esq. Director, Integral Education Center

Bert has helped my senior management team and me personally. He aided each of our executives to become more aware of our strengths and weaknesses, and how to better play to each other’s strengths. He enabled us to see different options to resolve conflicts that we alone could not see. He assisted me personally by encouraging me to grow into the person he believed I could become. His wisdom has helped me see life another way; a fundamentally more beneficial way.

Our WPO Dallas Chapter is appreciative of your excellent work in helping to kick off and facilitate the first meetings with new forums (both member forums and also NextGen forums). Members of the young adult forum were inspired, and told me you were terrific in helping them with the need for commitment, mutual respect and confidentiality.  Recently, some of us WPO’ers were reflecting on how you bring a creative blend of support and challenge to forum work, so as to bake the learning without burning it. Thank you for walking us along that edge.
